Will of Abraham Coffman: Written 14 Aug 1837; Probated Putnam Co., IN 13 Feb 1843; Final settlement made 15 Feb 1845; Deed Book 1, page 526, Putnam Co., IN In the name of God Amen. I, Abraham Coffman, son of the county of Putman and State of Indiana, being weak in body but of strong mind and memory do make and constitute this my last will and testament repealing all those heretofore make. Item 1st I will & bequeath to my two sons Henry & Nicholas the following described tracts of land as follows the north West Quarter of section One in township Hustan north of Range four west in the district of Gruhaute and state of Indiana containing One Hundred and forty seven Acres and 29/two of an Acrea also the East half of the North East Quarter of section Five in Township fourteen north of Range Four west in the district of Crawfordsville State of Indiana containing seventy four acres & 08/100 Hundredth Also the west half of the north East Quarter of section Two in Township fourteen North of Range four west in the district of Sands Entered at Crawfordsville containing Seventy four acres & 88/100 Hundredth. Item 2nd I will and Bequeath to my daughters Rachel, Hannah, Sarah, & Mourning & also Polly Myers Deceased & also Susanna Hedges Deceased all my personal Estate to be divided Equally after My debts are Paid. Done in presence of John Thornburgh & Reuben Slavens this 14 Day of August 1837. Item 3 I have given to Solomon Coffman, Jacob Coffman & Benjamin Wilson the portion I intinded of other lands not herein described Which entirely Excludes them from Receiving any portion of the above described tracts of Land or any personal property. 4th Item I will & bequeath to my wife All my personal property and the rest of my farm during her natural life after Heer death to be applied as above deicribed. Abraham Coffman Test: John Thornburgh & Reubent Slavens State of Indiana, Putnam County Probate Count February term A.D. 1843 Sct Did remembied that on this 10th day of February 1842 Reuben Slaven of said county comes onto open Court and being fully sworn upon his owth saith that the within instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Abraham Coffman late of said county deceased was on the day and year the same bears date signed delivered and declared by the said Abraham Coffman as his last will and testament that at the time of signing the same the said Abraham Coffman was of sound mind memory and discretion that the said Abraham Coffman at the time of signing the same was of lawful age and under no restrainet whatever that this deponent and one John Thornburgh signed the same as witnesses thereto in the presence of each other and in the presence and at the request of the said Abraham Coffman as this deponent saily believes and further this deponent saith not.
