In the earlier days of our county, distillers were well thought of. One would suppose that they would have been frowned on, but such is not the case. They were the men who made the spirits and who also distributed them in the community. It is rare to find an accounting of the building of Spencer or any major town site that a listing isn't made of payment to the distiller for his services and products to the workers.
