Livery Stables/Harness & Saddle Makers

This page created April 3, 2003

Livery Owners were the keepers of the horses in towns, some of these were horses of persons coming to town for the day and others were horses for hire. The Livery Owner also made harnesses and saddles. Although a rarity today, in the days of horses and buggies these men were in high demand..Liveries were also a popular place with the young men wishing to hire a horse/buggy to take a young lady courting in. Liveries also carried the supplies of horse feed.
