Owen County, IN between 1840 and 1850 - his land was the southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter of Section 5, Township 9-N and Range 3-W. It was located in the southeast area of the county, along the northern border of Clay Township and just south the White River.
LAST RECORD OF APPEARANCE
Land transfer document from Owen County Recorder dated the 19th of November 1840. Land transferred from John and Elizabeth Turpin to Henry W., Mary, and Robert N. Turpin.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES/PARTICULARS
The land was purchased in 1839 by Elizabeth. I'd like to know who else had land in that particular section of Twp 9-N and Range 3-W.
KNOWN FAMILY MEMBERS
The above-mentioned Henry, Mary, and Robert were probably children, along with their son John Jr. I suspect that James Turpin of Owen County may be a child. I suspect that the Obadiah Turpin of Owen County is related somehow. Their daughter Mary married Carter Arnold of Owen County.
