WEBB EVANS

FUNERAL WILL BE ON SUNDAY

Webb Evans, age 72 years, died late Thursday at the General Hospital in Indianapolis, after an illness of four weeks. Mr. Evans was born July 8, 1875 in Lexington, Ky. He moved to Illinois when a young man, but had been a resident of Putnam county for the past 32 years. He was one of the widely known farmers of Putnam county, having been interested in hybrid corn for many years and was always among the high producers in corn yielding contests throughout the years. He also raised much livestock on the Monroe township farm, but was more widely known for his soil conservation and grain production. Mr. Evans is survived by the widow, Ruth Wells Evans and three daughters, Mrs. Charles Hutchins, Highland, Ind.; Mrs. Gardner Eggers, Bloomfield, Ind.; and Miss Betty Ruth Evans, a student in Tulane University, New Orleans. There are three grandchildren, Dorothy Louise, Bonnie Sue and David Edward Hutchins; five sisters, Mrs. John Story, Charleston, Ill.; Mrs. Harry Etnire, Charleston, Ill.; Mrs. Sallie Simeton (sic[Simonton]), Fort Worth, Texas; Mrs. Ida Beil (sic[Ida Belle Jennings]), Waterloo, Iowa; and Mrs. Ray Etcheson, Cloverdale. Two brothers, Frank Evans of Peoria, Ill., and John Evans, Hinesdale, Ill., also survive. Mr. Evans was a member of the First Christian church of Greencastle. The Rev. Ralph Saunders will have charge of the services which will be held from the Rector Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with burial in the Brick Chapel cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after seven this evening.

EAPHA R. SHEER EVERHART

EAPHA R. SHEER EVERHART, youngest daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Sheer, was born October 29, 1851 in Coshacton county, Ohio, and came to Owen county, Indiana with her parents in the year 1853, locating on a farm two miles west of Arney, Ind. where she spent the remainder of her life. She was united in marriage to WILLIAM S. EVERHART March 14, 1886. She was the mother of four children, Mrs. Daisy Wells, who preceded her in death September 26, 1917; Mrs. Stella Allen, of Newman, Ill., Fred and Earsy Everhart, of Worthington, Ind. Besides three children, she leaves a kind and loving husband, two brothers, George and David Sheer, 12 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who mourn the loss of a loving companion, mother and friend. A loving woman always ready to lend a helping hand. She united with the church at this place during the ministry of Bro. Hughes some years ago. She has been a constant sufferer for over six years, but bore it patiently, never complaining and always thinking of the comfort and welfare of her loved ones, patiently awaiting the call of her Master. She passed away at the home of her son, Earsy, September 11, 1918, at the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
