Isaac Lafaver, of Baker township, one of the oldest citizens and pioneers of the county, died Monday aged 89 years. He was stricken with paralysis several weeks ago, and owing to age and feeble condition of health he could notwithstand the shock. Mr. Lafaver was a man universally respected and esteemed, and his funeral yesterday was largely attended.

Douglas Lane, age 24, of Rural Route, Bainbridge, died Thursday. Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Leon Hall Funeral Home in Plainfield.. Burial was in Washington Park cemetery.
He was the husband of Nadine, son of Douglas Lane and Etta Spencer, brother of Genevia Clifton, Leva Spencer, Velma Brietenmoser, half brother of Louise Lane. Also surviving are the step-parents, Elsie Lane and John Spencer.

BIRTIE (HORN) LEITZMAN
Mrs. Charles H. Leitzman, age 74, died a the home of her son Charles at 239 South Marion Street this morning at 1:30 o'clock after an illness of only one week.
Mrs. Leitzman, a native of Putnam County, was born May 11, 1876, the daughter of Nathan and Martha Reed Horn. She was married March 10, 1901 to Charles H. Leitzman, who survives. Mrs. Leitzman had lived in Morgan County for the past 17 years.
Other survivors besides the husband and son Charles are two other sons, Nathan, Paragon, R. R. 1., and David, Martinsville, R. R.; three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Alley and Mrs. Carl Stanger, Martisville, R. R.; and Mrs. Carl Fink, Gary; one sister, Mrs. Girtie Jackson, Coatesville and three brothers, Walter Horn, Coatesville; and Clarence and Luther Horn, both of Cloverdale. She also leaves 30 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Martinsville Mission Church. The Rev. George Young will have charge of the final rites.
Friends may call at the residence after 7 o'clock this evening. Cure & Hensley Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

WRECK CLAIMS FOURTH
CHARLES HENRY LEITZMAN
Henry Lietzzman, age 78, fourth victim of an auto accident which occurred last Tuesday, died at Morgan County Memorial Hospital Saturday night at 11:40. He and his wife had a home here at 475 West Cunningham Street and another at Paragon.
A native of Morgan County, he was born Aug. 12, 1880, the son of Harvey and Martha Donaldson Lietzman.
He was married to Birtie Horn March 3, 1901, who died in March 1951. He later married Viola Moore who passed away in 1955. His third wife, the former Laura Shellburn, whom he married last May, died last Wednesday of injuries suffered in the same accident.
Mr. Lietzman had spent most of his life in Morgan County and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Ellis Alley of R. R. 1, Mrs. Carl Stanger of Martinsville, and Mrs. Jack Rosbery of Linton; three sons, David of Spencer, Nathan of R. R. 1, and Charles of Martinsville; 35 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Rice of Gosport, and Mrs. Homer Wilson of Crown Center; and a brother, Walter Lietzman of Madison.
Funeral rites will be held in the Cure and Hensley Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the Stilesville Cemetery.
Friends may call any time at the funeral home.

MRS. MINNIE (THOMAS) LIKENS, about 50 years old, wife of Chas. Likens, died Saturday at her home in Indianapolis, following a light paralytic stroke the day before. She had been for some time suffering with heart trouble. She was married to Mr. Likens here some 25 years ago. She is survived by the husband, three sons, all of whom were in the Rainbow division, and a daughter, three sisters, Mrs. Lidie Gallup, Mrs. Jessie Hatfield, Mrs. Louie Johnson, and a brother Will Summitt. Mrs. Likens was a niece of Mrs. Ab Patrick of Spencer, who went to Indianapolis immediately on receiving the news of the death. Funeral services were held Tuesday and interment made in Crown Hill. Mrs Orpha Livingston, 57 years old, wife of JE Livingston, died Sunday at 10:30 pm at her home here after
a somewhat lengthy illness due to stomach and heart trouble. She was a daughter of Wiley and Harriet
(McDonald) Coffey and was born in Clay township near the present center of population. She is survived
by the husband and six children and three grandchildren. The children have all almost reached womanhood
and manhood. She is also survived by two brothers; WS Coffey of Spencer and HL Coffey of Centralia, Illinois
and three sisters; Mrs Maude Sadler, Spencer; Mrs Myrtle Adderly of St Louis and Mrs Luella Rice of Spencer.

Miss Clara Lee Lockhart of Quincy, RR1, died in the GosportNursing Home Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock after 4 weeks ofserious illness.She had spent her entire life in the Quincy community and wasa member of the Alaska Christian Church.Miss Lockhart was born Oct. 1 1894, in Harrison twp,Owen countyand is survived by one brother,Charles Lockhart of Quincy,RR1.Funeral services will be in the Whitaker funeral home in GosportThursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in the Mannan Cemetery.The Rev. Robert A Carter of the Gosport Christian Church will be in charge of the service.Friends may call at the funeral home anytime.

JOHN S. LOCKHART,97 SUCCUMBS RITES TUESDAY
John S. Lockhart, 97 years old, a retired farmer and former school teacher,
died Sunday, at his home in Harrison Township, having suffered a cerebral
hemmorage.He had been ill for the past seven years, but was critically ill
only a short time.
He was born in Jackson township, Owen County, October 9,1861, a son of the
late John Lockhart and Rachel Evans Lockhart. He had lived in this one home
in Harrison township for more than 70 years.
He was married to Miss Monnie Truax, who preceded him in death in 1943.
Mr Lockhart was a member of the Alaskan Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Charles Lockhart of Quincy rural route 1 and one
daughter, Clara Lockhart at home.
Following death the body was taken to the Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport,
where final rites were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 pm.
Brother H.H. Lentz officiating and interment was made in the Mannan Cemetery

Monnie L. Lockhart, daughter of John and Eliza Jane Truaxwas born July 15, 1871 in Owen County Indiana and died September 3, 1943 ather home in Harrison Township. Except for a few years her family lived inNebraska, her entire life was spent in Owen County.On December 10, 1887 She was married to John S,. Lockhart . To them wereborn four children; Flora who died in 1914, Charles who resides in Harrison,Twp, Clara Living at home and an infant daughter who died at birth.When a young woman she united with the Alaska Christian Church where sheretained her membership through out her life.She was of a quiet, loving disposition, accepting the joys or sorrows oflife in her quiet, sweet way that endeared her to those who knew her.She devoted her time to her home and family and had great delight in hergrand children.She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Flora and theinfant, two sisters, Etta Ross and Mary Asher and a grand daughter, FloyLockhart. She is survived by the husband, two children, Charles and Clara, sixgrand children, Vance, Dennis, Carl, Ruth, Gene and Sharon, two Great grandchildren, Richard and Betty Carter, a sister, Mettie Hilburn, and 4 brothers,Sam and Elva of Illinois, Ira of Indianapolis and Rolla of Texas.

Vance E. Lockhart, 82, Greencastle, formerly of Indianapolis, died Monday March 10, 2003. Visitation and services will be at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale on Saturday March 15. Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. with services being held at 3 p.m. Following the services, burial will be at Mannon Cemetery, Lewisville. Mr. Lockhart worked 20 years for the Farm Bureau Co-op in Indianapolis starting as typist and progressing to Director of the Marketing Research and Advertising Departments. Representing the Co-op, he was a frequent speaker before farm and business organizations as well as adult education groups. He was a strong believer in the social and political value of non-governmental organizations and spent his entire career as an executive in such organizations as the state, national and international level. While in Indianapolis, he was a member of the All Souls Unitarian Church and also a member of the advertising and marketing clubs and the press club. He left Indianapolis in 1959 to become the CEO of the American Marketing Association in Chicago. While there he was a founder of the International Federation of Marketing Societies and served as the first director. Later he became the General Manager of the American Society of Association Executives in Washington, D.C. and at the time of his retirement he was Senior Vice President for the American Arthritis Foundation in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Lockhart was a graduate of Purdue University, he served in the Navy in the Pacific area during World War II and continued in the reserves, retiring with the rank of Commander. Survivors include sisters Ruth Martin of California and Sharon Hull of Bloomington; brothers Dennis of Brownsburg, Carl of Greencastle and Gene of Plainfield.

James A. LOWE, died a few days ago of paralysis at his
home in Bainbridge, Putnam county. He was 74 years old,
and he leaves a wife and four children. He was a native
of Harrison county, but had lived in Central Indiana for
a number of years. He was a brother of George LOWE of
this city.

John Lucas, an aged and highly respected citizen of Lafayette township living about four
miles west of Spencer, died Sunday. The burial took place Wednesday.

MRS. SUSANNAH (QUERY) LUCAS The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.
We humbly bow our heads in obedience to God as this beautiful life has been
taken away. Susannah Query Lucas, the seventh child of Daniel Query and
Susannah (Cox) Query, was born June 21, 1853 at Atkinsonville, Indiana and
departed this life February 17, 1939, age 83 years, 7 months and 28 days.
She was united with the Baptist Church at the age of 13 and lived a devoted
Christian life to the end, and even as the end neared, she sang two verses
of the grand old song, Blessed Assurance. She was united in marriage to
Isaac Newton Lucas on September 1, 1870. To this union were born 13
children, nine preceding her death. Most of her life was spent in and near
Atkinsonville, with the exception of a few years in Illinois. Her last
preceding years were spent in Jordan Village. The deceased is survived by
her husband, Isaac Newton Lucas; one sister, Julia Huber, three daughters
and one son; Mrs. Anna Williams of Center Point, Indiana, Mrs. Flora Ulrich,
Mrs. Daisy Meek, and Mr. Fred Lucas of Jordan Village; also 48
grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Posted by Mike Rastatter

Newman-- Thomas S. Lutz, 92, Newman, died at 10:20 p.m. Saturday (April 30, 1966) at the Maple Rest Nursing Home, Villa Grove.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at the McGaughey and Joines Funeral Home, Newman. Rev. David Babb officiating. Burial will be in the Fairland Cemetery near Villa Grove. Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lutz, a retired farmer was born December 25, 1873 at Cataract, Indiana, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lutz. He married Nettie Redman on December 25, 1895.
Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Leora Bell and Mrs. Bessie Liffick, both of Brocton; four sons, Theodore and Leonard, both of Anna; Clarence of Danville and Raymond of Elkhart, Ind; 37 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and one sister..
