Donna had been doing some research into the African American people of Owen County and wondered if I would like the information for our website. After talking on the phone, I realized that she did indeed have some interested items to submit and looked forward to her submissions. Below will be found links to the individual families as this is an ongoing project as Donna compiles the information and submits them. Some of this information may or may not be of a delicate nature in regards to these surnames, and please remember that these are found within the Spencer area. I have chosen to place this on the site for the historical interest value. I have taken the information that Donna has submitted and by doing a little researching I have been able to piece it together even further with some background information on some of it. These items come from emails from Donna and from information in a phone call with her. The data contained is based upon her interviews with older family members, census records, military records and intensive research on her part. I ask that you do read these in the order that they are presented
starting at "The Beginning" to gain full appreciation of the information.
