MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR-SUPPOSED MURDER AND ROBBERY OF TIN PEDDLER Indianapolis Sentinel February 4, 1879 Spencer, Indiana, February 3-- A very mysterious affair has just been reported here today. According to the best information obtainable the case is as follows: On last Friday morning the body of a man supposed to be that of George H. Crawford, a rag buyer and tin peddler, was found near the public road in this county, near the Monroe county line. The body was terribly bruised and as the man's pocketbook was gone, it is supposed that he was murdered and robbed of his team and what money he had. No arrests have yet been made.
