The Martinsville Reporter Times

written June 16, 2009

I wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that the newspaper called "The Reporter Times" coming out of Martinsville Indiana-- covering the geographic area of Morgan County has decided to become very "Internet User UNFRIENDLY".

By this I mean that they have decided to become a newspaper that cannot be fully viewed without PAYING A SUBSCRIPTION PRICE.

Granted the price is nominal to most people, I think about $5.95 a month; but it is the principle of the thing. Most of us are on strict budgets currently, so this becomes an unnecessary expense.

You may indeed view the front page, but in clicking on any links it tells you that you must pay to access them. I am not the only one complaining, several persons wrote in and complained.

I did however feel that I would no longer promote them as a source of research- just as I told them I would.

As an alternative you may use the link on my website for Obituary Finders and use the link for the obituaries held at the Morgan County library. Remember that these obituaries are not current as they are in the paper. You need to wait a few days perhaps a week to find one appearing in the paper. Morgan County obituaries can also be found at Indianapolis Star or sometimes at the link for the Greencastle Banner on the obituary page.
