Victor Carter in Marines Dies Word was received by relatives here Sunday of the death of the 20 year old Victor Carter which occured in a naval hospital in San Diego, Cal. Mr Carter, a marine, died of bronchial pneumonia. His family received word of his illness Wednesday night and early Thursday, his father Gale Carter and his brother, Byron, left for California to be with him. Young Carter had entered the service this month, leaving for California January 8th. The day before he left, he was married to Betty Fisher of Indianapolis. The son of Gale and the late Mary Rutan Carter, he was born in Martinsville Feb. 8 1932. He lived here until a few years ago when he went to Indianapolis where he was employed in a Standard Grocery before going into the service. He leaves besides his wife and father, a stepmother, Mrs Thelma Carter, three sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Fred Hovious,Mrs Melvin Thacker,Darlene,Byron, and Duane Carter.
