MR & MRS SECREST TO HAVE 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr and Mrs. Bryan Secrest will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with open house Sunday afternoon, March 1, from 2 to 5 pm. Their children will host the party.

OPEN HOUSE TO HONOR THE ROBERT McGUIRES

Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGuire will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at their home, 275 East Market Street, Sunday August 14. An open house from 2 to 4 pm will be hosted by their children. Mr and Mrs. McGuire have a son, Robert Thomas who lives at Bloomington, and a daughter Ruth (Mrs. John William) Hancock who lives at Lafayette. They also have four grandchildren and a great grandson. Mrs. McGuire, the former Lorraine Guy and Robert McGuire were married August 19, 1927. It is requested that gifts be omitted. Mr. McGuire is a retired salesman for the Riverside Supply Company of Evansville.

STINES TO CELEBRATE 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY MAY 27

Mr and Mrs. Homer D Stines will be honored at open house in observance of their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, May 27. The reception will be from 2 to 4 pm in their home, 810 Laymon Avenue in Spencer. Mr and Mrs. Stines were married May 21, 1923 at Bloomfield. Mrs Stines is the former Miss Eliza Fulk, daughter of the late Eli and Sarah Hill Fulk of Worthington. Mr. Stines is a retired stone quarry employee. Mr and Mrs Stines former residents of Monroe County are the parents of six children; Betty Burton of Ellettsville, Annabelle Turner of Bloomington, Ruth Gill of Indianapolis, Barbara Thomas of Dallas, Texas; Harry Stines of Spencer and Robert Stines of Bloomington. They have twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild.

MR & MRS MAGUIRE TO OBSERVE GOLDEN WEDDING

Owen County Leader August 23, 1952

Sunday, August 26th, Mr and Mrs Anthony Maguire of Spencer will observe their golden wedding anniversary. Open house will be from 2 to 4 o'clock pm and their many relatives and friends are invited to come to their home on West Morgan Street. Both Mr and Mrs Maguire are natives of Owen County. Mrs. Maguire is the former Miss Elsie Troth, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs George Troth and was born at Vandalia. Mr. Maguire is a son of the late Mr and Mrs Michael Maguire and was born in Spencer. They were married in the Spencer Methodist Church by the Rev. William N. Gaither, who was then pastor of the church. Mr and Mrs. Rolla Hughes stood up with them at the altar and witnessed the rites. Mrs. Hughes is a sister of Mr. Maguire. Down through the 50 years they have lived in Spencer where their two sons, Ralph and Walker attended the Spencer Grade Schools and then graduated from Spencer High School. Today Ralph lives in Indianapolis and Walker lives in Franklin. Mr and Mrs Maguire are very proud to say they have five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Maguire has two living brothers, Fred Troth of Hagerstown and Charles Troth of Spencer. Mr. Maguire has one brother and two sisters living. They are; Mrs. Rolla Hughes of Spencer; Bart Maguire of Indianapolis and Mrs. Susie Holsapple of Monticello. A family dinner will be enjoyed at the noon hour and most of their families will be present Sunday. Mrs. Maguire is a member of the Spencer Methodist church and has been a very active member down through the years. She is today a member of the Official Board. Mrs. Maguire is also a member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge and Rebekah Lodge of Spencer. Mr. Maguire is a memeber of the K. of P. and the Red Men Lodge. The staff of the Owen Leader and their many relatives and friends extend congratulations and best wishes. May health and much happiness be yours for years to come.

THE DULINGS OBSERVE 61ST ANNIVERSARY

Mr and Mrs. Ross Duling observed their 61st wedding anniversary Tuesday February 22 at their home 206 South Washington Street. Mrs. Duling is the former Miss Bertha Burkett, daughter of the late Daniel Burkett and Della Porter Burkett. She was born at Pottersville in Owen County. Mr. Duling was born in Owen County and his parents were the late Nathan Duling and Lillie Franklin Duling. Ross Duling and Bertha Burkett were married in Spencer February 22, 1905. The are the parents of two sons, Howard Duling and Russell Duling, both of Spencer and two daughters, Frances Maudlin of Bloomington and Wilma Townsend of Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Duling have nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. The editor and staff of the Owen Leader join Mr. and Mrs. Duling's many friends in wishing them happiness on the 61st wedding anniversary.

MR & MRS RUSSELL DULING

Owen County Leader November 15, 1979

Mr and Mrs Russell Duling of Spencer will be honored at an open house Sunday, November 25, to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The open house will be at Canyon Inn from 2 to 4 pm. Their children and grandchildren will be hosts. The Dulings were married November 27, 1929 in Freedom by Rev. Arthur Schenck. Mrs. Duling is the former Louise Fiscus. Both are members of the First Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Duling was employed as a draftsman at Indiana Limestone Company after their marriage and then worked at Johnson's Creamery in Bloomington ten years. He owned and operated Dulings DX Service Station in Spencer for 23 years before retiring in 1964. He has been engaged in farming since then. They have a son, James R. Duling and a daughter, Mrs. Jack Vaughn, both of Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Duling have four grandchildren. Friends and relatives of the Dulings are invited. It is requested that gifts be omitted.

MR & MRS HERMAN McGUIRE

Owen County Leader June 21, 1971

Mr. and Mrs. Herman McGuire will observe their 50th wedding anniversary June 27. The couple reside at 1717 Estes Court, Apartment A6 in New Castle. Mr. and Mrs. McGuire were married at Spencer, July 1, 1921. They are the parents of three sons, Amos in California, George in Michigan and Richard of New Castle; and three daughters, Louvina Sharp in California, Martha Gillespie of Ellettsville and Barbara Powers of Indianapolis. They have several grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

MR & MRS WILLIAM STINES

Mr. and Mrs. William Stines, former residents of Ellettsville, married in Spencer, January 22, 1927 by Rev. Wiley Hastings. The couple will observe their 50th anniversary with an open house at the Christian Church in Marysville, Indiana January 22 from 2 pm until 6. The couple request gifts be omitted. Celebrating with them will be two sons, two daughters, 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Stines are the parents of Billy of Louisville, Kentucky; Fred of Otisco, route 1; Mrs. Carolyn Nuttsell of Hanover route 1; Mrs. Wilbert Taylor of Madison, route 1.

TO OBSERVE FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Estil Wood will celebrate their 50th anniversary at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Ralph Hamilton at 715 E. Eleventh Street, Bloomington. They are both natives of Owen county having moved to Monroe county aboiut 30 years ago. Mrs. Herman Davis, formerly of Spencer, is the oldest of their eleven children.

MR. & MRS. ALLEE'S 48TH ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Allee, 218 North Montgomery Street, are observing their 48th wedding anniversary today, Thursday May 24. Mr. and Mrs. Allee have lived in Owen County most of those 48 years. Both were born in Owen County. Mrs. Allee is the former Miss Floy Craddick. Mr. and Mrs. Allee are retired farmers. Mr. Allee was also a school teacher, and served 12 years as a minister. They are the parents of four daughters, Dorothy at home, Genevieve L. Allee, Camden, New Jersey, Mrs. Robert Foltz, Indianapolis and Mrs. Margaret Truax, Spencer.

DULINGS TO CELEBRATE 59TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Duling will celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary, Saturday, February 21. They spent most of their lives about three miles from Freedom, until they moved to Westport, rte. 1 about 15 years ago. They were the parents of five children-- Mrs. Nona Cooper, at home; Mrs. Mildred England, of Indianapolis; Fred Duling of Boone, Iowa; Dawes Duling of Clinton, Iowa and James Duling of Illinois. Anyone wishing to mail them a card may address R.R. 1 Westport, Indiana. They have one grandchild, Byron Duling and four great grandchildren, all of Akron, Ohio. Mr. Duling is 84 years old and Mrs. Duling is 81.

HEDRICKS OBSERVE THEIR 53rd WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr and Mrs Will Hedrick of Braysville celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary, Sunday, October 19, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Harry Baugh and husband, north of Spencer. A big dinner was enjoyed at noon, the centerpiece being a wedding cake decorated with a miniature bride and groom. The cake was baked by their daughter, Mrs. Nina Yockey.

Their guests included their son, Rocksy Hedrick and family; and Mrs. Lydia Franklin of Switz City; their daughter, Mrs. Fred Yockey and son of Spencer; Mr. Earl Franklin, half-brother of Mr. Hedrick.

GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

Friends and relatives to the number of 35 were present Sunday at the John R. Coble home to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of the Cobles. John R. Coble and Marietta Hendershot were married November 24, 1883 but the celebration was held on Sunday the 26th to allow more of the relatives to be present. Four of the five were present, Mrs. Esta Criss of Hymera being unable to attend. All the grandchildren but three were present.

Among those who came to help celebrate the day were Mr. and Mrs. Mead Spear of Lyons who were married on the same day as the Cobles. At that time they were living in Owen County. The big dinner Sunday was a feature. No program had been arranged and the guests had a fine time visiting and talking over the old times.

MR.& MRS. DUNKIN TO OBSERVE GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dunkin of Quincy will observe their 50th wedding anniversary, Sunday, September 14 with a big family dinner at the home of their son, Robert and family in Montezuma. Mr. and Mrs. Dunkin have been life-long residents of Quincy where they have a host of friends. Mr. Dunkin is a retired railroad employee. Their host of friends throughout this county extend congratulations and best wishes. It is our sincere hope that health and happiness will be yours in the many years to come.

MR.& MRS. ROSS M. McCULLOUGH GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Ross McCullough, R. R. 1, Quincy, observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary Monday December 18. They were married in Spencer on December 18, 1928. Mrs. McCullough is the former Margaret Hoffa. Mr. and Mrs. McCullough are the parents of Dale McCullough, R.R.3, Cloverdale, Robert McCullough , R. R. 2, Spencer and Don McCullough, deceased. They have seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Members of the family said that due to the illness of Mr. McCullough they were unable to celebrate this glorious occasion as they had planned. However, the cards sent to the honored couple are greatly appreciated.

R. 1, Clayton,Indiana will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary New Year's Day at an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Stilesville Christian Church. They were married January 1, 1914. They have two daughters, Mrs. Sarah R. Graves,Indianapolis, and Mrs. Peggy Ann Byers, Plainfield, and seven grandchildren.

MURPHY 51st WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. John Murphy observed their 51st wedding aniversary at theirhome here Sunday, Oct.12th. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dock Harrison, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Ethel Zims, of Bloomington. Their son, Harold Jones, of Modoc, visited them during the week. Mrs. Murphy is recovering from a heart attack suffered recently. She wants to thank all her friends for the many beautiful cards she received during her illness.
