LOSES EYESIGHT

W. M. Free, of near Coal City, had the misfortune to lose the sight of his left eye Friday afternoon while making some repairs in his barn. A nail penetrated the eyeball, and the sight was lost, but it will be unnecessary to remove the eyeball. Albert Free and Mrs. Paul Egnor went to Coal City Saturday to see their father who was injured.

W. S. Allison was called to Columbus, O., last week by the illness of his wife who is there on a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mandery.

MRS. WILL THURGOOD and young son, Malcolm, of Evansville came Wednesday to visit her parents,

J. H. MURPHY and wife. It will be remembered that the boy,

Malcolm, met with a peculiar accident here last spring when a fish hoke caught in his left eye.

He was rushed to a specialist and it was thought the eye might be saved. It proved false hope, however, the sight being destroyed.

The many friends of MISS OLIVE EGNOR, who was hurt in the automobile accident last week, will be glad to know that she is getting along as well as could be expected. Unless unexpected complications arise her ultimate recovery is assured. MISS LURA SLAUGHTER, the other victum of the accident is now able to be around.

Mr. and Mrs. LEO WELLS and three children of Jefferson township ate salmon last week and soon became prostrated as a result of ptomaine poisoning. SILVAN, a son four years old, died in convulsions Wednesday evening. The rest of the family are convalescing except Mrs. Wells, who is not yet out of danger.

ARL HOLSAPPLE was severly cut on the chin one evening last week by some boys dropping glass from an opera house window and striking him.

DAN GLOVE, who went from here to Arkansas this summer, is now in New York city to have a critical surgical operation performed.

JOHN KELL, Sr., received a paralystic stroke Wednesday night, about ten o'clock. At the time of going to press he is still unconscious and his recovery is concidered very doubtful.

Oakland City Enterprise. Mr. KELL was formerly a citizen of Gosport, and his many friends here regret to learn of this sad misfortune.

Mr. SAMUEL DALTON who lives about one mile north of Quincy, while returning from Spencer fair last week and while driving one of this horses in a cart, was severely kicked by the animal in the bowels and breast, and the latest report says he cannot live but a short time. Mr. DALTON has been a regular patron of the Gosport fair with stock. The sad accident is to be regretted.
